Hi, my name is Arnhild and I'm a Sami/Norwegian multiartist.
I grew up on an island called Havøysund, situated north of the world's northernmost town...imagine that.
Summertime filled with light and midnight sun, wintertime pit dark with flaming Northern light above.
A wild and beautiful part of the world!
Growing up with extremes makes extreme people...even though I've been living in Oslo for many years now my mind and my art is-and will always be-deeply influenced by the colours and light from the north.
I'm educated in sami handicraft, drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, textile work and animation movies...and of course tattooing.
Besides that I've done some theater make-up and hair...designed and redesigned clothes since I was 7 years... and I've raised my daughter as a single mum since 1993.
I've been an artist all of my life and practicing since 1987.
ART INK TATTOO is my little business...and here's part of my story:
After doing art and animation education and a lot of bodypaint during the nineties my mind fell upon the fantastic art of tattooing.
When I started tattooing in 1996/97 there was 1 -one- studio in Oslo...nobody wanted to give me any information until I met one guy who could.
The backdraw with that was that he was in prison for killing two people...(yep, heavy story this one)
Anyway...he taught me all the basics and tricks from the Old School way which he went to Denmark to learn, as a 17 year old in the seventies.
I first started ART INK TATTOO in june 1999 in Hammerfest, Norway as the world's northermost-and Finnmark's first tattoostudio.
I had to move my studio to Alta in 2002/2003 and now I've moved again, to Oslo.
It's time to settle down permanently...a little strange for my nomadic soul. But it's the right thing to do now as I've been travelling about 4000 kms a month for ten years.
